Somewhat like....A legendary sumo wrestler (like Yokuzuna) VS the best pound for pound boxer (such as Manny Pacquiao or some other heavyweight best boxer)....OR some other good match up.

  1. Sumo wrestlers although very disciplined and respected in Japan, have not done well outside of Sumo wrestling.

Boxers do very well fighting outside of boxing, when they cross-train a bit.

Take as an example the great Sumo wrestler Akebono, he lost all his matches in MMA and k-1.

  2. I don't know if someone as small as Manny could beat a top Sumo.  Sure I would favor say middleweight and up boxers but the lighter guys would have a problem.  Sumo wrestlers are actually deceptively fast.  A Sumo could possiblly come in quickly without being KO's and land on top of a smaller fighter like Manny,

Also don't forget Sumo's do use there hands in upward striking motion.

A big heavyweight like Wladmir would probably destroy any sumo.

  3. Likely the boxer, as to the best of my knowledge sumo is more about grapple and leverage and takes place in a very small space, whereas boxing is all about strikes and movement, rather than just plowing into the opponent and trying to knock him onto the ground or shove him out of the ring.

  4. obviously western wrestlers

  5. The Sumo Wrestler would win. Havent the Gracies taught you guys anything? Pure Grappling>>>>>Striking.

  6. definitely a boxer unless the sumo wrestler sits on his head the the boxers neck would probably snap

  7. An elite heavyweight boxer is going to kill a sumo wrestler very easily, Lewis, Tyson, or any hard hitter wins this quick and if its to the death then it just prolongs the suffering of the sumo wrestler.

  8. Western Boxing I'd say :)***
