Sun Central highly likely to show improvement in Ascot’s Ladbrokes Mobile Handicap (Heritage Handicap)
Royal Ascot is due to host plenty of mega events on Saturday, but the highlight will the class 2 Ladbrokes Mobile Handicap (Heritage Handicap). As expected, a valuable prize of £97,035 has attracted a field chockfull of powerful and progressive 3-year-olds.
The really interesting one is Sun Central, who was quite impressive on his both appearances at Ascot. After opening his account at Chester, the 3-year-old came here with a huge bang.
In the class 4 Canisbay Bloodstock Handicap, the William Haggas-trained was an unlucky loser. The 11-4 favourite ran marvellously, but remained unlucky. As a result, he finished second by one and a quarter lengths.
He raised his game to win decisively last time around. The class 3 Titanic Belfast Shergar Cup Classic (Handicap) saw him bagging the big prize by a length’s distance. Despite a slow start, Sun central did not lose confidence, and made smooth progress in
the hands of James Doyle.
He was well driven by the jockey inside the final furlong. Consequently, he ensured the top rank with ease. Given his progressive profile and excellent pedigree, the dashing colt is highly likely to make further improvement this time.
On good to firm, 19 horses will meet in the big event. The plan is to kick off the affair at 16:15 GMT.
Gospel Choir certainly deserves respect following his unbeaten run this season. The son of Galileo beat Sun Central on his Ascot debut in July. But the situation is entirely this time around.
Sir Michael Stoute’s charge has been upped 8lb for his latest win, and we are unsure whether he will be able to do an equally good show with this weight.
Miblish is too high in the weights. Moreover, Clive Brittain’s trainee has a few stamina questions to answer. Opinion is improving day by day, but a significant up in the weights might become an issue. Stencive was second to Gospel Choir last time, and will
be under some pressure against the same opponent.
A hard clash between Gospel Choir and Sun Central is on the cards. The latter is open to improvement, and should be preferred. Good luck to all the horses.
