  1. green cheeck cause their cheaper, quiter, and like to cudle your. just make sure to give enough time out the cage when u get home

  2. I think you should get both because if their home alone for that long they need company. I have two parakeets and I am gone for that long for school. Then what I do is every friday When i get home i let them out and fly in my room(no windows, no doors open!) and clean their cage at the same time

    good luck!!!

  3. i have both and adore both but i find the greencheeks funnier, very entertaining; they are also quieter, cheaper and better talkers. i love my sunny, but the greencheeks i have met are so personable, just too smart and funny.

  4. I have have both and I have a bird rescue. I love my sun conure so much and they are the teddy bears of all the conures. He can scream loud but they are very loving. My green cheek is also loving and not loud and also cheaper. I love them both but if you want a pretty, and cuddly bird I would go with the sun conure. Both of mine can talk but most conures are not big talkers. If you have any questions email me.

  5. Sun Conures are very beautiful birds but they do have a reputation of being rather squaky. Green Cheeks are funny little birds.  I myself would pick a Green Cheek. I think they can run from $200.00 to $500.00.  As long as you have lots of toys so they can amuse themselves then they should be ok.

  6. I have a Sunday conure and a just recently rescued Sun conure. They are both wonderful birds with totally different personalities. They are very beautiful birds, and people often want a colorful bird before they realize what they are getting into!

Sun conures are very loud. They have contact calls (they use them to call back and forth to flock members- that are piercing and repetative. Our conures are for the most part quiet- but just make sure you are prepared for the noises that they make. Birds are vocal creatures, and even if your bird is not a screamer they will make noise, it is their nature.

As long as you are prepared and can accept this, sun conures are awesome! Green cheeks are smaller and less noisy. I have never owned one but I have handled many and see them often because I am a bird breeder so I go many places. Green cheeks are great for first time bird owners. They are small, easy to handle, smart, cuddly (most are), and low maintenence. They are also less expensive, usually under $250  and don't require a huge cage. Sun Conures are low maintenence, more expensive usually under $350, easy to handle and train, smart, extremely acrobatic and funny. Sun conures vary in size, mine is smallish- I have seen them alot bigger. I have both of my conures in large cages because conures are so active and acrobatic, they will make use of the cage space no matter how big!! Conures are closley related to the macaws, so they have smaller scale macaw beaks- they can be very destructive. Make sure they have plenty of toys to chew! They are extremely busy chewers- ours love wooden toys and shredders (which you can find at pet smart or petco).  Unhappy conures can be nippy, screamers or pluckers. A conure that has no attention, is left in his cage all the time, is yelled at or ignored can be very unhappy. Being gone for the day is not a big deal. Birds adapt to routines very quickly. Make sure he has toys to play with while you are gone (he may sleep alot while you are gone, our birds do) , maybe place his cage near a window but not directly in front of, so he can see out and watch whats going on outside. While you are home make sure he is kept busy. I can't hold my birds 24-7 when I am home because I have too many! I have a large portable playstand and some small ones with different toys, I also have window perches in different parts of the house. I rotate the birds from stand to perch so they are constantly doing something different or looking out of a different window. Usually as long as they are in the same room as me they are content.
