  1. get P20 - you can get it from superdrugs or Boots, it's about £20 a bottle but so worth it, i used it when I went to Egypt where it's boiling, and didn't get burnt once, but still got a tan, and i'm really fair skinned. You only need to put it on once a day in the morning and don't need to reapply even after you have been swimming (as long as you don't dry yourself really vigorously) as it lasts for 10 hours.  So well worth the money

    Have a good holiday#

  2. a high SPF.

    like, 60.

& get the kind that smells like coconuts.

    because it smells AMAZING (:

  3. First, it is "sunscreen", as it it screens you from the sun. Just go to a local store and pick some up when you get there. Any brand is fine. Since you are not used to sun exposure and are likely pale-skinned (Irish), use at least an SPF 30. You should reapply after going in the water or sweating a lot. I recommend the spray stuff because it takes much less time to apply a sufficient amount. And remember, more is better!

  4. I'd buy the highest spf sun cream you can get your hands on we've just come back from Majorca Alcudia and we used spf 30 and still burnt badly, stay wrapped up in light clothing if you don't want to burn and drink lot of water

  5. Hello, I´m spanish

You can buy in Mallorca the sun cream Isdin Fotoprotector 40+ or others with the protection 50+ or 40+ in the "Farmacia"(drugstore).

    Good luck!!!

  6. just make sure you get something at is like 25 spf or higher and you could be ok. the higher the number the more protection

  7. Firstly def. buy in the UK and any brand will do,  it's the factor of the product that's important. I've seen  too many holiday makers burnt and blistered here and can't understand why people are sooooo stupid.

Anything more than factor 30 for first exposure and then you could go down. But if you're Irish chances are you have fair skin. 2 hours with factor 30 in the morning (up till 11am) then 2-3 hours after 5pm. When you have been here a week then you could maybe cut it down to factor 20. Dont worry, you will go home with a tan, and not burn and lose it to peeling 2 days after the blisters go down!!

Enjoy the sun but be sensible, cover up with a tee shirt (at lunch time especially) even if this means swimming with it on if you intend to stay in the sun after the hours specified here. Drink alot too, and from time to time go in the shade.

  8. Go for a reputable make and a very high sun protection factor. Factor 40 or more.

  9. I am in Ireland too, and have just returned from Puerto Rico.

Delial is a very good brand.

    Maybe 20 or 30 sunscreen.

For the first few days, anyhow.

Anti Histamine tabs might also help.

    Best of luck!

  10. You are wise to worry about the sun.  It is SOOOOOO much stronger in Spain (anywhere) than in Ireland, and if you are like most Irish people, your skin is probably VERY fair!

The brand isn't as important as the SPF...Buy the strongest you can find!  Apply multiple times (they usually say every 2 hours...I would go more frequently, esp. for the first few days, plus after swimming).  If it doesn't cause you any irritation, stick with the same brand.  I use Neutrogena, because the cheap stuff makes me break out, esp. face.  Bain de Soleil has a really good reputation, as well as a brand called Leche Solar (in Spanish - it's available in many countries, under their own names).  The closer you are to light pavement, sand and ocean, the more frequently you want to reapply.

At home, close to the sun, with little atmosphere (I live at about 2 miles elevation), I only apply once a day, in the morning.  In Barcelona, for a day at the beach, I burned.  And I have less fair skin...no freckles...I rarely burn.  My friend who is very fair, applied every hour and stayed safer!

  11. Hi angel what you want to do is bring a high factor sun tan cream like maybe factor 50.

Then once you have got use to the sun in like a week ,if you're there two weeks bring a lower factor sun cream say factor 20 or 30 just to give yourself more of a tan.

It also depends on your skin if you are blonde and your skin is quite light then keep the factor fairly high. I hope this helps and enjoy your holiday :)

  12. Depends on how much money you want to spend but i find the best to use are Lancaster which you can buy at the airport (about £18) or Loreal solar, which is cheaper and can be bought from just about anywhere. I buy Lancaster when i can afford to.

Loreal is my fav as you can buy one for your face and neck which is especially formulated to prevent damage and pigmentation spots and another larger size which has been especially formulated for your body.

If you don't want to tan at all then go for the highest factor possible  but you must remember to keep applying it during exposure especially on the areas like your face, shoulders nose and feet even it say's its waterproof.

    Happy holidays!

  13. The higher the better, it doesnt mean you dont get a tan it means you can stay out in the sun longer without putting cream on. Make sure it has as high UVB number as that protects from skin cancer.
