Yes generally, there are less people on the sunday trains as opposed to the rest of the, however,t he fares typically cost more.  By about 10-20 dollars.

It really depends on where to are traveling from & to, then if there is any engineering taking place, but if there is no engineering and its a traditional line then you should be able to find a seat!
