Sunderland Chairman Niall Quinn planning an inquest for the team’s poor form, still backs manager Steve Bruce
Sunderland Chairman, Niall Quinn has promised the fans that he will conduct an investigation of the recent slump of his team.
Sunderland started the ongoing 2010-11 campaign in a promising fashion with some excellent results against the top sides, which include a 3-0 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at Stamford Bridge in November.
After collecting 37 points from the first 24 games of the season, everyone expected Sunderland to challenge for a European place but their poor run of form of late has left the Black Cats in the bottom half of the table. The club are now forced to struggle
to keep hold of their Premier League status. The Rokerites have lost seven out of their last eight league matches and find themselves only six points ahead of the relegation strugglers.
Sunderland’s campaign has been rocked by a host of injury concerns and they were left to do without a majority of their star men for a major part of the current season. Manager Steve Bruce has the backing of the owners and Chairman despite the fans disagreement.
However, Niall revealed that he will soon conduct a post-mortem of the season.
Quinn told the Sunderland Echo, “Once we get through this, we will look back to see what might have been done differently, how we might have improved things. And of course in the summer, we will evaluate things such as the catastrophic injury problems we
have had to contend with and look at our transfer policy collectively.”
“Just like last season, we will sit down with Steve, take stock and work out together how we improve on this season and how we continue the building process to make us stronger and better in the following season,” added the Sunderland Chairman.
Even though their current 13th position on the league table is much better than what they have achieved in previous two years, the fans are disappointed because the club had a golden opportunity to finish in the top half after failing to do it
for more than a decade.
The Chairman added he is hopeful that the team will return to winning ways soon and will put up a strong finish to the season.
