Sunderland and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Asamoah-Gyan-c6791 uncertain over link with Galatasaray
Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan revealed he was not certain about his future after being linked to a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray. The 25-year-old Ghanaian striker failed to comment on a possible exit from Stadium of Light and claimed the decision
was entirely up to the English Premier League side.
While Sunderland manager Steve Bruce repeatedly claimed Gyan would remain with the Black Cats during the summer, Gyan was heavily linked with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Ligue 1 side Marseille on the deadline day of the summer transfer window.
Since the transfer window remains open in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, there were rumours linking Gyan with a move to Turkey. It was suggested the Ghana international was looking for a move away from the Premier League to play in a different
league.
Gyan said while speaking to reporters:
“I heard the news like everyone, before I came to England, there was a transfer bid from a Turkish club and I choose to come here.
I am flattered by their interest but like I said it is up to Sunderland.”
Gyan admitted he had been flattered by the interest shown by other sides, including Galatasaray, in acquiring his services but said the decision was up to the club. He said there had been interest from Turkey before, but he had chosen Sunderland.
“I am at Sunderland, if they accept a bid from any club, I will have to speak to that club, as you know I am preparing for a game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 and not thinking about any transfer.”
Gyan revealed he wanted to focus on the upcoming match against Brazil, an international friendly being held in London and not a possible transfer. He picked up an injury during his last appearance for Ghana and was said to be a doubt for the clash against
Brazil.
He arrived at Sunderland for a transfer record breaking fee of £13 million on a four year deal from Rennes in the summer of 2010. Gyan was given the role of the first choice striker straight away and did well by scoring 10 goals in 33 appearances in the
Premier League.
