Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill has confirmed defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Titus-Bramble-c35166 has suffered a recurrence of the Achilles and calf injuries and will be unavailable for the upcoming fixtures.
The 30-year-old defender has been sidelined for over a month now with the injuries he picked up in the fixture against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019. While he returned for training last week, he has suffered from recurrence of the injuries and has now been sidelined once again for at least another month.
Martin O’Neill confirmed the player had joined the squad in training last week for two days but had aggravated the injury instead of recovering. He revealed the player had been included in the squad for the fixture on Saturday but had been unable to participate.
Unfortunately Bramble picked up the Achilles injury once again and it seems the Northern Irish manager will have to do without him in the upcoming fixtures. O’Neill has done well since taking over from Steve Bruce and it’s highly unlikely the injury to Bramble will affect his progress.
O’Neill said while speaking to reporters:
“Titus trained with us last week for two days and because he had had no reaction I put him into the squad for the game on Saturday.
However, he came to me on the Friday and said he did not think he would be ready.
I said that was fine and he could do more training over the weekend.
However, having done some training, his Achilles is sore again and that is why he missed out again on Tuesday night.”
Bramble joined the Black Cats in the summer transfer window of 2010 for an estimated fee of 1 million pounds on a three year contract from Wigan Athletic. So far he has made 30 appearances in the Premier League and has scored one goal.
The defender was never really a favourite under manager Steve Bruce, who preferred to bring in John O’Shea and Wes Brown from Manchester United in the summer transfer window and Bramble has not had the opportunity to prove himself to O’Neill, having picked up the injury shortly after he took charge as the manager.
