Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill has denied reports that Premier League side Arsenal have been in contact with the Black Cats over midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kieran-Richardson-c20946.
Reports suggested that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 boss Arsene Wenger was determined to sign Richardson in the winter transfer window and had already made enquiries regarding the player. However, the Black Cats denied the rumours and claimed they had not been approached by
any club as yet.
O’Neill said while speaking to reporters:
“Arsenal have not been in touch with me, I don't know anything about it.
I asked the chief executive as well and she said no, there hasn't been anybody in touch yet.
But what I have said is that I would keep players informed about what is happening.”
Richardson began his youth career with West Ham United, later joining Manchester United in 2001. After a year in the Red Devils youth side, he graduated to the senior team in 2002. After 41 appearances in the Premier League and two goals, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749
international joined Sunderland in 2007.
The versatile left back c*m left winger joined under the management of Roy Keane but retained his place in the starting line up when the club changed managers. He was a favourite under Steve Bruce and remains so under Martin O’Neill.
The Northern Irish manager revealed that while they did not want players leaving the club, they would keep them informed about any offers. As for Richardson, there had been no offers as yet, which is why an exit for him seemed highly unlikely.
He continued:
“Obviously, I don't want to rush players to leave the football club. I would rather think about stabilising things here, and hopefully we can try to progress from there.
But regardless of whether you are going to be doing business or not, you are going to be linked with players, clubs are going to be linked with some of our players, and at this minute we are hanging in there.”
The Black Cats manager also revealed that he did not want any players leaving in the mid-season transfer window but did not reveal if he had any players on his transfer list.
