Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill revealed he planned on contacting http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Asamoah-Gyan-c6791 sometime next week to find out if recalling the player from UAE side Al-Ain was a possibility.
After difficulties with previous manager Steve Bruce, Asamoah Gyan was loaned out to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Al-Ain-c38290 in a season long loan. However, with Bruce gone and Martin O’Neill installed as manager in his place, there is a possibility the Black Cats will attempt and recall
the player.
The Ghanaian’s departure coincided with that of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicklas-Bendtner-c27726 in the summer transfer window on a season
long loan from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
However, the fact of the matter remains, Sunderland are in dire need of strikers and what better solution than to recall Gyan. That way the Black Cats will not have to spend any money and it will be like having a new player in the squad.
O’Neill admitted that he had considered the possibility to recalling Gyan and had even spoken to the club chairman regarding the matter. The Northern Irish manager will contact the 26-year-old in the upcoming week to find out if he is interested in returning
to the English Premier League.
O’Neill said in an interview:
“The chief executive gave me his number, I haven't had a chance to call it.
Really, it was just a matter of me introducing myself to him as much as anything else and finding out how the land lies.”
Since joining Sunderland in the 2010 summer transfer window, Gyan went on to make 34 appearances in the Premier League and scored ten goals during that period. Sunderland will be lucky if they can convince him to return to the Stadium of Light in the upcoming
winter transfer window.
He revealed:
“I think perhaps the club he is involved with have got a pretty strong hold on him in many aspects, but still it would be nice just to have a few words.
That I intend to do some time next week.”
