Their latest fixture against Swansea City on Saturday ended in a 0-0 draw, which has further pressurized
Bruce to get results. The manager has been criticised for his excessive spending in the summer transfer window and the lack of results.
The Black Cats manager brought in ten players, who were expected to strengthen the squad and help Sunderland finish in the top six of the English Premier League table. However, their failure to register a win has reflected poorly on not only Bruce’s decisions

at the beginning of the new season. With the summer transfer window set to close on Wednesday, Bruce will have to act fast.
Bruce revealed that he was disappointed by the loss to Newcastle Unite and Brighton in the Carling Cup, but felt the press had exaggerated the situation. He denied talks of unrest at the club and revealed that it was too early in the season to comment on

Bruce said while speaking to reporters:
“We lost the derby game; it's what it is unfortunately. Some of the press have started a frenzy and if you are not careful it engulfs you.
We must win a match. We have Chelsea at home next; can that be the turning point of our season?”
Bruce insisted he was confident about his team’s ability to face the top sides, but still felt he needed to bring in another player. He said the current squad needed time to adjust, after which he was certain they would deliver results. The Black Cats boss
was satisfied defensively, but was looking for more firepower to help them achieve their target of Europa League football next season.
He continued:
“The players have shown they can compete against a side that will probably end up in the top 10.
I feel we will improve as the season goes on. We have been complete as a team defensively and we are ready to fight.”
