Sunderland boss Steve Bruce confirms http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Titus-Bramble-c35166 out for the season
Reports have emerged that Sunderland striker Fraizer Campbell could be ruled out for the remainder of the season and next season, if he has to undergo another operation on his knee. The former Manchester United forward damaged his knee
last August and was still in recovery when he suffered a twisted knee in training for a Premier League clash against Manchester City.
Campbell arrived at the Stadium of Light in 2009 for a fee of £3.5 million from Manchester United, after a loan spell at London side Tottenham Hotspur. In his first season, the 23-year-old made 36 appearances and managed to score 7 goals in all competitions.
He has yet to score this season, having picked up an injury early on in the season, and has only made 4 appearances.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce, confirmed the risk of losing the striker next season. He said while speaking to reporters, “We think the surgeon needs to go and have a look inside his knee again and if it does need repairing again, then Fraizer is going to
miss the best part of next season as well, which is an even worse blow for us and more importantly, for the kid.”
Bruce revealed Campbell’s recovery and rehabilitation process after the operation was going perfectly fine, but he twisted it during training. The Sunderland boss continued, “The way it's going for us at the moment, we do fear that the boy might need another
operation, and that could rule him out for the best part of next season as well.”
Having sold striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-Welbeck-c10233, with just a few games remaining in the current
season. While Gyan is fit and likely to feature against Birmingham City, Welbeck is not fully fit and a doubt for the match.
Meanwhile, defender Titus Bramble revealed he had been sidelined for the rest of the season because of a knee injury. While the 29-year-old does not require surgery, he will have to sit out the remainder of the season and hope to be fit for the start of
the next season. The former Wigan player joined Sunderland this season for a fee of £1 million and has only made 15 appearances.
The English defender confirmed his exclusion from the team for the rest of the season on his Twitter. Bramble admitted he was disappointed as he wrote, “Just been told that I'm unlikely to play again this season. I don't need an operation, so that's a bonus.
Will work hard and make sure I'm right for the start of next season.”
