Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn admits chase for Manchester United defender John O’Shea

end of the season, Sunderland are looking to strengthen their squad in the summer.
O’Shea has been linked with other Premier League clubs, including Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspur but Quinn was hopeful Sunderland could secure his services. With new arrivals having come in at Old Trafford, O’Shea, Brown and Gibson have lost their place
in the starting XI, which is why they are looking for a move away.
Quinn revealed O’Shea could expect regular first team football at Sunderland, he said while speaking to reporters:
“We are in there trying hard for John and will see if something can unravel.”
John had good family news in the last few days with the birth of his child. We've had to back off which is only correct. But the players are back in and we will see if something can unravel.”

and has scored 15 goals. His contract will expire in 2012, which is why he will most likely leave Manchester United in the summer.
O’Shea is worth an estimated £5-7 million, a price Sunderland would be willing to pay for the Manchester United defender.
