Sunderland fitness coach Jim Henry has warned the Black Cats players that they face a tough period ahead of them when they return to the club for pre-season training.
Henry will be welcoming back the old faces, with some new arrivals as well of course, as Sunderland begin their first full season under manager Martin O’Neill. With the summer break behind them, the time to prepare for the upcoming English Premier League season has arrived.
According to the Black Cats fitness coach, pre-season was undoubtedly the most important part of the upcoming season. It gave the entire team to prepare for the new season and Henry believed that was crucial if the side was to have a decent season.
Henry said while speaking to reporters:
“Pre-season is one of the most important phases that we are looking at. Long gone are the days when players came back de-conditioned. There's far, far too much at stake for these boys.
What you tend to find now, especially in the Premier League, is that the boys come back in good condition.”
The Sunderland fitness coach felt that it was important for all the players to keep active during their time off, which made pre-season training easier for them. He felt that most of the players in the Premier League stayed fit during their vacations, which only made his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 easier.
He continued:
“We have programmes which we put in place over the summer, and it's vitally important the players keep mobile throughout the weeks they have off.
Normally they come back in very good shape, and we then have a look at their body fat and weight and see if there are any changes.
That quickly tells you whether the player has been doing their programme or not.”
Sunderland begin their pre-season training with fixtures against Seongnam Chunma, Hartlepool, York City, Derby and Leicester; they are then scheduled to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in their opening fixture of the English Premier League. The Black Cats will be expecting a better finish this time around, having had many ups and downs in the last season.
