English Premier League side Sunderland have signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Ferguson and Wade Joyce from Darlington and Bury respectively to their youth side.
The pair joined the Black Cats on a trial move towards the end of last season and managed to impress the development chief. Both Ferguson and Joyce have now been given permanent deals with Sunderland and can expect a bright future ahead of them.
Kevin Ball, the development chief, has revealed that he was extremely impressed by the duo at the end of the 2011-2012 season.  It was for this reason that the club decided to make a move for the youngsters and sign them on a permanent basis.
The Black Cats’ development chief confirmed David Ferguson had been signed from Darlington, having first brought him in at the end of last season. Ferguson managed to impress the staff, which convinced them to offer him a permanent contract.
Ball was full of praise of the youngster, who had shown quality during his trial period at the Stadium of Light. He felt Ferguson should make the most of the wonderful opportunity presented to him with the English Premier League side.
Ball said while speaking to reporters:
“David was at Darlington last year and we had the opportunity to bring him in for a few weeks towards the end of the season.
He impressed us as a staff enough to offer him a contract and he's really hungry and a local lad.
David is a fit boy who looks after himself and this is a great opportunity for him. As the cliché goes, he needs to grab the opportunity with both hands and must make sure he does that.”
As for Wade Joyce, Ball revealed he had also been on trial with Sunderland and had had a similar effect as Ferguson on the staff. He continued:
“Wade came up on trial as well and again did enough to impress the staff and earn a contract. We look forward to working with him too.”
Sunderland have also managed to sign new deals with a  few existing players in the youth academy, namely; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-c2929 Pickford, Anthony Callaghan, Jordan Laidler, Adam Mitchell and Connor Olive.
