Sunderland full-back and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scotland-c756 international Phil Bardsley has expressed his disappointment over the loss to Roy Hodgson’s West Bromwich Albion admitting that his team messed it all up after leading 2-1 at half-time.
Albion visited the Stadium of Light on Saturday, 9 April and came out as 3-2 winners in a game that was full of twists and turns.
Bardsley mentioned that it was a game which Sunderland expected to win and fans were supportive all the way through. He apologised to the fans and confessed that the Black Cats have once again led their faith-full’s down.
The 25-year-old seemed unhappy with his side’s overall quality and urged his team to improve upon their skills in order to make sure that Sunderland does not lose unnecessary points in the future. He further admitted that the team are lacking in confidence
but ensured that the Black Cats would bounce back and regain their lost momentum.
He further added that, "The lads are distraught in the dressing room and we have to pick ourselves up quickly because we need points on the board. Everything was comfortable at half time and the lads were enjoying it, but the game became stretched in the
second half and at times we were all over the place.”
The Scottish international also seemed unhappy with the performance of some of his team-mates and demanded them to step up as the League is now heading towards its final stages. He further added that these players could restore their lost confidence as the
Black Cats have some favourable fixtures coming up against the likes of Wigan Athletic, Birmingham City, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Bardsley concluded by saying that, "It's time for some of them to stand up and start being men," he said frankly. We're in a difficult situation and we have to go to Birmingham next weekend and give a good account of ourselves. We have to keep fighting."
Sunderland are 13th in the League table with 38 points and are only six points clear of the relegation places with as many games in hand.
