Zenit St. Petersburg head coach, Luciano Spalletti, is keeping tabs on the highly-rated Ghana striker, Asamoah Gyan, who plays for Sunderland. The tactician is reportedly willing to pay the needful for the 25-year-old.
Spalletti had himself admitted that Zenit need to bolster their attack by adding two or three new players. The coach is of the belied that the club need to inject heavy cash in order to retain the Russian Premier League title.
The Italian tactician has set his sights on the Sunderland starlet, whose contract with the club expires in June 2014.
Gyan transferred to the stadium of lights from Rennes for a record transfer fee in excess of 13 million Pounds last summer. The Ghana national has been prolific in the English Premier League, bagging 10 goals in 31 appearances for the club.
However, Gyan has highlighted that English Premier League is the most competitive among all the leagues as it demands utmost physical strength. He went on to promise the fans a very good season ahead.
“I'll definitely be a better player next season; it depends on me keeping working hard. There are some seasons where things don't go well, but that doesn't mean you are a bad player. It's the most difficult league in the world and you need to be 100 per
cent fit to survive”.
The performances of the star striker in the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the African Cup of nations developed interest from various clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur said to be in the driving seat. The manager at white Hart Lane, Harry Redknapp, offered http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Crouch-c29741
as bait to influence the move for the Ghana national but the black cats are reluctant to sell their prized asset.
“We are looking to bring a striker in but he is not one of those that we are looking to sell”. Sunderland manager Steve Bruce said.
Although the manager was not interested in listening to any offers, agent Fabien Piveteau’s remarks were contrary to the manager.
“I can't say if he is staying or not, so far as I know, one club has tabled an offer. He is returning to the club for pre-season and we will sit down with the coach to talk about it”. Piveteau highlighted.
Though a move for the Sunderland starlet seems unlikely, the prospect of playing in the UEFA Champions League and competing for titles every year might persuade the 25-year-old to make a move towards Petrovsky stadium.
Bruce will find it difficult to hold onto the Ghana national should a bid in excess of 20 million Pounds be tabled by the Russian club. Having just sold http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, the black cats could also lose their gifted striker.
Spalletti is adamant that the team performance would definitely be boosted by the arrival of a striker, and Gyan could be a healthy injection to the squad.
