Sunderland manager Steve Bruce looking to pin hopes on the youngsters next season: EPL News
Sunderland manager, Steve Bruce, is preparing to promote majority of his academy players by giving them a chance in the first-team to save the club’s millions in the transfer market.
The 2010/11 campaign started on a positive. However, a poor run of form since the turn of year has concluded the season disastrously for the Black Cats. Steve Bruce’s men were placed in the top-half of the table before the winter transfer window and were
challenging for a UEFA Europa League place, but only three wins in the last 18 games since January 2011 have seen them move to the bottom-half of the league table.
The club’s academy graduate, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102, has had a wonderful campaign after breaking into the first-team football this season. The midfielder has caught the eye of several top clubs in the Premier League and his value has been raised to 15 million
Pounds. However, Bruce is reluctant to part company with his prized asset and wants to build a team around his youngsters.
Other than Henderson, another of the club’s academy graduate, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Colback-c17451, has impressed in his nine appearances in the league this season and the manager has guaranteed him that he is in his plans for the 2011/12 season.
The 50-year-old revealed that there are a lot of promising youngsters in the club’s academy setup and he is confident that most of them have the ability to break into the first-team next season.
Bruce said: "I have to say, the academy does fantastically well here. To have two young local lads playing in the team, that doesn't happen often in the Premier League these days, so they can take a big pat on the back.

The former Manchester United defender admitted that such is the talent in the youngsters that he is expecting them to give him selection headaches next season.
