Sunderland midfielder David Vaughan looks forward to success with a win over Aston Villa
Sunderland midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Vaughan said he was hopeful his side could return to winning ways after snatching a win against Bolton Wanderers last weekend. The Black Cats are scheduled to host Aston Villa at the Stadium of Light and the 28-year-old was hopeful
of back to back wins.
After a horrific start to the new Premier League season, which has seen them secure just two wins so far, Sunderland are desperate to get back on track. Their poor form has not only raised questions of the owner’s commitment to the club but also the manager’s
credentials.
A section of fans have called for Steve Bruce’s removal, but seem to have quietened down with the 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers. Vaughan, who was amongst the many new signings by Bruce in the summer transfer window, is determined to help his side retain
a decent form in the upcoming fixtures.
Vaughan said in an interview:
“It's vital we don't turn in a similar performance in the next game to that which we did at Norwich.
We beat Stoke and then went away and probably turned in the worst display of our season.”
According to Vaughan, the team currently lacked consistency, which was why they were unable to retain a winning streak. However, they seem to have come a long way from when the season began, which gives them hope of improvement.
He revealed:
“Yes, we have beaten Bolton and beaten them well, but we have to focus on the next game and make sure those levels don't drop for the visit of Aston Villa.”
Vaughan urged his side to not take Aston Villa lightly, even though they had registered an impressive win over the Trotters last weekend. He revealed the confidence from last weekend’s win could very well prove to be the deciding factor in the upcoming game.
Vaughan continued:
“The confidence should be with us now and hopefully we can go on a bit of a run, get that form up there and climb up the table.”
The Black Cat’s main aim now is to climb up the Premier League table and work towards their aim of finishing in the top half of the table come end of the season.
