The Black Cats have completed their moves for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 respectively.
Ever since Martin O’Neill’s arrival at the Stadium of Light, there has been reason for optimism on Wearside. The experience coach has over seen a disappointing end to Steve Bruce’s tenure and managed to guide the club to a decent mid-table finish last time
out.
Now it seems that the tactician is gunning for more, perhaps even a European berth, after acquiring two of the most highly rated players in the Premier League.
Adam Johnson, who was a fringe squad member at the Etihad, has jumped ship as he looks to gain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 caps, while Steven Fletcher became the latest addition to the Sunderland front-line.
Already blessed with quality forwards in Connor Wickham and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Louis-Saha-c22459, O’Neill has completely changed the look of the side, adding more quality than ever before.
Success for the Lads has been far and few, but they have managed to cement a regular place in the Premier League, although now they want to improve on their label as mid-table finishers and perhaps challenge for a spot in the UEFA Europa League.
Their task, which is not mean feat by any means, has been made easier by the addition of Johnson and Fletcher, both of whom are proven attackers and were welcomed to the team by the Sunderland boss.
“Adding quality players to the squad has been our main aim this summer and Adam certainly fits that bill. He has terrific ability, great delivery and I’m sure he is a player who will excite our fans. I couldn’t be more delighted to have him at the football
club.”
“I'm delighted. I've just come from the training ground and I'm delighted it's all gone through. I think Steven will be terrific for us. He's underrated, but not by me. I think he's capable of scoring goals and linking play which is very important to us
and I think now at 25 years of age he's got room to improve and really get better,” said O’Neill.
