Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan revealed he was disappointed with the Black Cats’ manager Steve Bruce’s comments following his move to Al-Ain on a season long loan. Bruce expressed disgust at Gyan’s departure from the Stadium of Light after the summer transfer
window had closed, a move he felt had only been inspired by money.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 international joined Sunderland in the summer of 2010 and despite an injury plagued season, managed to score ten goals in the English Premier League for the Black Cats. He was thought to be happy at the club until he was linked to a host of top
European clubs close to the fast approaching summer transfer window. While the player reportedly wanted a move away, Bruce made sure he remained at Sunderland.
The manager revealed he had not received any bids for the 25-year-old striker, despite apparent interest from the likes of AC Milan, Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan. Bruce felt the media was much to blame for unsettling Gyan, who did not seem to want to be at
the club anymore. The Sunderland boss urged Gyan to remain with the Premier League side, where he would stand a better chance of developing and improving as a player.
With the transfer window closed, Bruce was certain Gyan would focus on the Premier League side. Unfortunately for the English manager, the player claimed he was not happy and agreed to a season long move to Al-Ain, which saw him leaving just a day before
the clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. Bruce was very upset with his departure and hinted the player was greedy, which is why he had left Sunderland.
Gyan revealed he was extremely disappointed by the comments his manager had made about him after his move to Al-Ain. He admitted that since leaving the Stadium of Light he had not been in touch with Bruce because he was still upset over the manager’s comments.
The striker is highly unlikely expected to return to Sunderland once his loan move comes to an end next year.
Gyan said while speaking to reporters:
“I've heard comments he's made since I left which I'm disappointed about.
Because of that I've not called him since I moved here.”
Gyan insisted that the management at Sunderland, including Steve Bruce had been aware of the move and it had not been as sudden as they made it out to be. In fact, the Ghanaian revealed Bruce had agreed to the move because of the money it generated, suggesting
that it was the club that was interested in the money and not him. He revealed:
“Steve Bruce was aware I was moving. Everybody at the club gave consent to the move because of the money involved.”
