Sunderland and England under-21 player, Danny Welbeck, has been included in the senior England football squad for the first time following injury to Tottenham Hotspur winger, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Lennon-c3062. The English Football Association (FA) confirmed on 28th March, 2011, that Lennon was experiencing discomfort in his hamstring following a training session. As a precautionary measure, the player has been sent back to his club.
Lennon’s exclusion from the England squad has paved way for Welbeck. Initial reports had suggested that no replacement would be called for the injured Lennon, but Fabio Capello surprised many by drafting in the youngster to the England camp.
The 20-year-old will be hoping to feature for the England team as they take on Ghana in a friendly football match on 29th March, 2011, at the Wembley stadium. Officially, Welbeck is a Manchester United player but currently is enjoying a loan spell at Sunderland. In the 2010/11 season, Welbeck has been in brilliant form for the Black Cats, scoring six crucial goals in 24 appearances.
For the England under-21 team, Welbeck has put in some superb performances as well. The soon-to-be-capped player has made 10 appearances and scored three goals.
