Sunderland striker Nicklas Bendtner reveals reason for leaving Arsenal, looks forward to win over the Gunners
Arsenal striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicklas-Bendtner-c27726, who is currently on loan to Sunderland, revealed he remembered the exact moment he had decided to leave the London club. The 23-year-old joined the Black Cats in the summer transfer window on a season long loan and has made
it very clear that he does not wish to return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 even when his loan period is over.
Having fallen out of favour with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, Bendtner was rarely used. The point at which the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 international decided he had enough of being left out by the French manager was when the striker was left out of the Carling Cup final last
season. He admitted he was extremely disappointed and it was then he had decided to part ways with the London club.
Bendtner said while speaking to reporters:
“I can point to a precise moment I knew I had to leave.
It was when I looked at the team sheet before the Carling Cup final and saw that I was not going to start. It was my worst moment in football.”
He expressed his disappointment at being left out of the squad despite having been in top form prior to the fixture, which the Gunners went on to lose 2-1. It seems it was the loss in the Carling Cup final that triggered Arsenal’s decline last season, with
the London side barely managing a fourth place finish in the Premier League. Now at the Stadium of Light, Bendtner revealed he was looking forward to impress his new side.
Sunderland take on Arsenal on the 16th, after the international break, but unfortunately for Bendtner he will not be available to face his parent club. However, he remained confidence in Sunderland’s ability to secure a win over the Gunners, who
have not been in the best of forms this season. Bendtner felt the Black Cats were lacking consistency, which was why they had been unable to earn more points.
He revealed:
“We would rather show on the pitch that we should be on the other side of the table. I am sure we will in the weeks to come after the international break. We are good enough and strong enough, but we just need back- to-back wins.”
The Danish striker scored his first goal for Sunderland in the 2-2 draw against West Bromwich Albion and credited his partnership with Stephane Sessegnon for his improvement. He revealed the hours of training the two had been putting in training and was
pleased that it showed on the pitch. While Bendtner was not the best finisher at Arsenal, he has definitely improved since his arrival at Sunderland.
Bendtner continued:
“You can see Sessegnon and I are starting to gel together. We are trying to find each other, look for the balls to put one another in training.”
