Sunderland have confirmed that on-loan striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicklas-Bendtner-c27726 requires further treatment after the striker suffered injuries to his face in the 2-0 win over Swansea City.
The Black Cats registered a much needed win over the weekend, but lost the 23-year-old striker in the opening 15 minutes of the game. Bendtner was accidentally caught in the face by Angel Rangel and had to be replaced by Connor Wickham.
Sunderland issued an update according to which Bendtner had suffered a fractured nose and was currently being monitored. The scans revealed his facial injuries had been much more serious that initially thought because of which he was ruled out of action.
Dr Glen Rae, the head of Sunderland’s medical department, said while speaking to reporters:
“The results of the scans have been received and Nicklas will now undergo further treatment.
Sunderland http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Hospital provided a first-class response and I would like to thank them for their assistance.”
After graduating to the senior team at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in 2005, Bendtner formed a highly successful partnership with Arturo Lupoli in the reserve team. He went on to make his debut for the Gunners in October against Sunderland in a League Cup match.
Next season he was loaned out to Championship side Birmingham City so he could get more experience. He was initially sent for half a season but the side increased the loan period to until the end of the season because of which Bendtner remained with them
until the end of the 2006-2007 season.
While at Birmingham City Bendtner received a lot of first team experience, making 42 appearances in the league and scored 11 goals. Upon his return he signed a contract extension with the London side after being linked with the likes of AC Milan and Lyon.
He made 40 appearances and scored 9 goals in his first season after his return and was somewhat of a regular since then. However, even then the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 international felt he was not the first choice striker because of which he had rows with manager Arsene
Wenger.
It was decided he would be loaned out to Sunderland until the end of the season. Since joining the Stadium of Light, Bendtner has made 16 appearances so far and has scored 3 goals with 5 assists.
