Sunderland targets Charles N’Zogbia for the coming summer transfer window – Premier League
The English Premier League side, Sunderland, have reportedly shown their interest in Wigan Athletic’s winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Charles-c8808 N’Zogbia. It was also revealed that the French international was also approached during the January transfer window by another Premier League side, Birmingham City.
All the terms were agreed upon by the winger’s current club but due to some personal reasons, N’Zogbia decided, not to move to Birmingham and stay with the Latics till the end of the season.
Sunderland, on the other hand, in their bid to bolster their midfield, have reportedly decided to make a 9-million-Pound bid for the 24-year-old come the start of the summer transfer window.
The Black Cats already signed a Ghanaian international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Asamoah-Gyan-c6791, for approximately 13-million-Pounds, which is the club’s highest transfer fee till date and now look all set to get back to digging in their pockets to grab N’Zogbia.
The winger joined Wigan Athletic in 2009 after spending approximately five years at Newcastle United. During his stay at St.James’s park, the player appeared one hundred and eighteen times for the club that saw him scoring only nine goals. For the Latics, the 24-year-old has already scored twelve goals from seventy-six appearances.
N’Zogbia has been consistently performing at Wigan and has also been a regular part of Roberto Martinez’s plan. The Frenchman has been a crowd favourite at Wigan and would surely be breaking many hearts if Sunderland successfully completes the signing of the Latics star.
Wigan Athletic are currently rooted at the bottom of the league table with twenty-seven points and their stay in England’s top flight football looks bleak with just nine games remaining for Martinez’s men. The Latics have won just five games in the season so far to go along with twelve losses and need to win at least three of their remaining games in order to keep their place in the League for the next 2011-12 season.
Wigan Athletic will host Birmingham City in their next game, to be played on Saturday, the 19 of March at the DW Stadium which is an important fixture for both teams.
