Sunderland to spend big on Ghana’s Asamoah GyanGhana’s World Cup striker Asamoah Gyan has been in Sunderland today to finalise a £12million switch to the Premier League. The Rennes forward turned heads during the summer tournament in South Africa, scoring three goals as the Ghanaians reached the quarter finals. However, he did miss a penalty in the last minute of extra time against Uruguay which, had he scored, would have put his side through to the semi-finals.The fee would represent a club record fee for the Wearsiders, however Rennes have said that they are yet to hear from Gyan about the move.Forward Gyan has scored just 14 goals in his two seasons with Rennes in Ligue 1, but does have an impressive record of 22 strikes in 44 international appearances.
