Sunderland winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sebastian-Larsson-c32733 happy to return to winning ways
Sebastian Larsson, the 26-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 international, revealed he felt he had done well to regain the fans support after scoring the winning goal against Blackburn Rovers over the weekend. Thanks to the Sunderland winger, Martin O’Neill began his charge
with Sunderland with a precious win and all three points.
Larsson was especially glad to score for the Black Cats since he had missed a penalty on a week earlier, in a fixture Sunderland had lost. However, he has now made amends under the new manager, who begins his reign with a win at the Stadium of Light.
Larsson said while speaking to reporters:
“I felt I needed to do something and I am happy I got a goal, especially after last weekend. It's been a tough week, missing that penalty and turning a game around which we should have won.”
It was Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Vaughan scored first and Larsson converted a beautiful
free kick, which hit the back of the net.
To be fair to Blackburn Rovers, they were suffering from injuries to four key players, something which undoubtedly affected their performance in the second half of the game. Towards the end, the Rovers seemed to be exhausted and conceded the late goals.
He admitted:
“In the second half I was a bit disappointed with my own performance. I got into some decent crossing positions and I couldn't get any good crosses in.
I felt I needed to do something and I am happy I got a goal, especially after last weekend.”
The Swedish winger felt he could have personally done better in the match, especially in the second half of the match. He did not think his form, other than the goal bound free kick, was good and felt he had a lot of improving to do.
Larsson continued:
“In the second half, I don't think I have ever been involved in a game where we have had that much possession.”
