Sung Hyun Ko and Yong Dae Lee prove their supremacy in Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012
Korea’s experienced players Sung Hyun Ko and Yong Dae Lee lived up to the expectations as they easily wrapped up the Men’s Doubles title at the Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012 on Sunday, December 9, in Korea.
In the final battle, the lofty Sung Hyun and Yong Dae played with complete control of rallies and outplayed their higher ranked team-mates Ki Jung Kim and Sa Rang Kim in a comprehensive fashion.
Sung Hyun and Yong Dae, who were the fifth seeded players in the Men’s Doubles main draw of the tournament, played with remarkable precision and toppled their top seeded country-mates in the final battle while taking just 34 minutes.
The experienced Korean duo showed a staggering performance throughout the title match and did not face any considerable problem in winding up this battle in straight games with a lopsided margin on the board.
On the other hand, the top seeded Ki Jung and Sa Rang failed to live up to expectations as they could not match the speed and skills of their experienced opponents and lost the match in a vulnerable manner.
In the first game, the lower ranked Sung Hyun and Yong Dae played with superb control in their shots and managed to take over the charge of the game with a wonderful ease. They found gaps and managed to exploit the loopholes of their rivals quite easily.
The phenomenal variations in Sung Hyun and Yong Dae’s strokes helped them to stay in lead and they maintained an upper hand over their team-mates at the opening stage. They did not face any problem in creating gaps and managed to place their shots accurately.
Sung Hyun and Yong Dae continued dominating the pace of rallies all the way and they did not spare any chance for the opponent to fight back in the opening half. They remained positive in their play and easily took a huge lead on the board until the one-minute
break.
After the mid-game interval in the opening game of this final encounter, the in-form Sung Hyun and Yong Dae remained fully focused in the arena as they played with incredible speed and maintained a huge gap on the score board.
It was a smooth sailing for the impressive Sung Hyun and Yong Dae who did not face any resistance from their rivals and won the first set with a stunning margin of 21-12.
In the second game, the higher ranked Ki Jung and Sa Rang tried their best but failed to change things around. Meanwhile, the fifth seeded Sung Hyun and Yong Dae continued playing attacking badminton and maintained their supremacy on court.
Mustering it further, Sung Hyun and Yong Dae displayed their lofty craft at net and controlled the pace of rallies which helped them to stay in complete command and they again took a wonderful lead until the break.
After the interval, Sung Hyun and Yong Dae stayed focused in their dominating play as they did not let their opponents to get close at any stage and eventually wrapped up the second game with a spectacular margin of 21-11.
The impressive Sung Hyun and Yong Dae emerged as title winners as they put up a phenomenal display of their positive skills in the final match and finished it up with a superb 21-12 and 21-11 score on the board.
