Sung Ji Hyun sends Minatsu Mitani packing in Women’s Singles first round of Singapore Open
Korea’s top player Sung Ji Hyun showed her supremacy in the arena when she stormed into Women’s Singles second round after sending Minatsu Mitani packing in the first round of 2012 Singapore Open Super Series 2012 in Singapore, on Wednesday, June 20.
The World Number 8 Ji Hyun, who reached into semi-final of Indonesia Open Premier Super Series last week, played impressive badminton as she remained composed in the court and easily toppled Minatsu in an incredible manner.
The higher ranked Korean shuttler was one class above her rival in all aspects of the game and she stamped her supremacy over the Japanese in straight games by taking just 35 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Minatsu could not play effective game and also failed to break the momentum of her Korean rival in the entire contest. She eventually lost to Ji Hyun in two games without showing her class in the court.
In the opening game, Ji Hyun played to her maximum potential in opening rallies and remained in commanding position throughout the opening half.
In the meanwhile, the Japanese also played well but not enough to stop the progress of her higher ranked opponent until the one-minute interval.
After the one-minute break, Ji Hyun continued her elevated run in the court without slowing down the pace of rallies and wrapped up the opening set with a four-point advantage of 21-17.
In the following set, Ji Hyun increased her speed from the opening points as she did not let her Japanese rival to control the pace. She was impressive in the court as she did not miss any chance to finish rallies and remained ahead on the board until the break.
After the mid-game interval, the third seeded Ji Hyun remained positive and consistent in the court as she did not reduce her speed at any stage and eventually took the set with a superb 21-13 score on the board.
The higher ranked Ji Hyun won this 35-minute Women’s Singles battle against Minatsu in two games with a sensational score of 21-17 and 21-13.
