Sunil Gavaskar backs Indo-Pak series - Cricket News Update
Whilst a tight ICC Future Tour Programme (FTP) is hampering an imminent resumption of an India-Pakistan bilateral series, the former legendary India batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Manohar-Gavaskar-c91863 is hopeful the respective boards would soon find a window of opportunity to accommodate
the much awaited mouth-watering cricketing rivalry.
India and Pakistan have not featured in a bilateral series since February 2008. Pakistan toured India in January-February 2008 and the latter was due to tour Pakistan the next year, before the deadly http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks in November 2008 brought the bilateral
series to a standstill. India suspected the involvement of Islamabad in the lethal attacks, suspending all bilateral ties with Pakistan, including cricketing relations.
Once the government of Pakistan gave India the “most favoured nation (MFN)” it seemed that the relations between the arch-rivals would improve. Trade relations between the two countries have resumed but formal cricketing relations still remain suspended.
Under the Future Tour Programme of International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan was scheduled to tour India in March this year but it is clashing with the Asia Cup that is scheduled to be played in Bangladesh in March. The Asia Cup features India, Pakistan,

The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 has assured the Indian board officials that his team is willing to play the Men in Blue on neutral venues as well. But the BCCI has continuously been mentioning the busy schedule.
Gavaskar in unison with the board agreed that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 can create a window for the bilateral series.
"Hurdles are very simply, the tight schedules which are there for India in particular are stopping the revival. India are absolutely tight up until 2014," said Gavaskar speaking to the media reporters on Tuesday.
"I think if the ICC can convince other scheduled tours around India and Pakistan to be delayed then maybe it can create a window but honestly… it looks difficult even in 2014," he added further.
Gavaskar also urged the respective governments to play a role in resuming the bilateral cricketing ties between the arch-rivals.
