Sunil Gulati: Klinsmann scripted http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904’s success at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and not Joachim Low
Just days after appointing Jurgen Klinsmann as the new http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 coach, the US Soccer President Sunil Gulati spoke in favour of the former Germany tactician. He reckoned that Klinsmann was the mastermind behind Germany’s success at the 2006 FIFA World
Cup and therefore deserves to get all the credit for that purpose. He brushed aside talks claiming that Klinsmann’s assistant, Joachim Low, was the man who scripted Germany’s success in the tournament.
Gulati was talking at a press conference where he revealed the former Germany international as a new manager to the media personnel. He also told that the new manager would be introduced to the players on Tuesday. The President claimed that the entire US
outfit was pleased with the appointment of an experienced campaigner like Klinsmann.
Gulati further added that there is ample time at hand for the new Manager to rebuild a team as United States only play a World Cup qualifier next year in June and there are no major assignments lined up before that.
US play arch-rivals Mexico in a friendly on August 10 and Gulati believes that it will be an ideal opportunity for the 47-year-old to prove his selection right. Klinsmann, on the other hand, vowed to achieve greater heights with his new team and targeted
a place in the semi-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Gulati also told that it is up to the new manager to appoint a support staff for himself for the future assignments. He further added that Klinsmann will be given a new staff per match and from them he will be asked to make a selection. While talking about
the match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mexico-c2956, the President enthused, "He's going to see the players for the first time on Sunday or Monday with a game against Mexico on Wednesday. That's obviously not an ideal circumstance to be starting. But we talked about that and decided
that was the best way to go."
Klinsmann was offered the same post twice before in five years but he rejected it following lack of interest shown in the Major League Soccer. The former Striker has previously represented the likes of Germany and Bayern Munich.
