West Indian off-spinner Sunil Narine is eagerly awaiting the five-match One Day International series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, starting at Kingstown on Friday, March 16, 2012.
Speaking to media reporters on Wednesday, the 23-year-old left-arm spinner from Trinidad and Tobago said that his maiden series against India in December last year has provided him good experience to face the formidable Australian’s at home.
The 23-year-old made his debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in Ahmedabad and showed great composure in the three one-day internationals (ODI) he played.
"When I played in India last year I got a feel for the atmosphere at international level. It was great,” said Narine.
"I learned a lot when I played those matches in India. I got to realise that at this level there is little room for error and your bad balls will be punished."
Having played all his international matches on foreign soil, Narine is eager to perform at home in front of the West Indian crowd.
“I am really looking forward to the opportunity to play in front of West Indian fans," said the left-arm off-spinner.
"It is always great to get the support of your fans and have them cheering you on. That does a lot for any player and certainly helps to lift the team,” he added further.
The rookie spinner has said that his aim is to be at the top from the very first ball. Narine is considered to be the X-factor for the Windies team in the upcoming five match ODI series against Australia. The Aussies are in prime form, having dispatched
India 4-0 in the four match Test series at home, and then triumphing in the Commonwealth Bank Series, which featured http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and India.
The emerging off-spinner has been in great touch for Trinidad and Tobago in the domestic circuit. In the three matches he has played so far, he is the leading wicket taker with 31 scalps to his name. He needs to translate his domestic form onto the international
stage, if the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 are going to have any chance of stopping the rampaging Aussies.
