Young Sister,

My advice is for you and the young man to focus on your similarities, and that is your belief in Allah. If you allow yourself, however, to focus on your cultural and man-made differences, you will never be able to please everyone, and you will end up being unhappy.

Another way I would look at it is God made everyone on this planet.  If he did not want them to exist, they wouldn't. So...rejoice in the love you have found, and thank Allah for him.  As soon as your community sees it that way too, you'll all be happy. Until then, my advice is to put your heart and mind first, because it is literally impossible to please everyone. And do you want to live your life, or someone else's?

Keep your faith, keep your love, and all that is good will follow.
