The visitors failed to match Kolkata’s brilliant with the bat and fell short of the target by 48 runs.
While expressing his disappointment after the match, the Sunrisers’ mentor admitted that his bowlers failed to restrict the home team’s batsmen. Moody believes that his bowlers should have been able to curtail the quick pace of run-scoring.
"Our defensive skills were never as sharp as they can be," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Moody-c77690 said. "It was not a 180 runs wicket but we allowed the hosts to put an imposing total.”
The coach is of the view that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779 and Cameron White to raise their game and take the responsibility on their shoulders.
"Dhawan's absence is a big setback for us. Without him, our batting is a concern. But I think our overseas batsman need to perform better than they are doing at the moment. We haven't batted as well as we can do," the former Australian cricketer added.
The KKR captain, Gambhir, was all praise for Morgan and said that the team management promoted the left-hander in the batting order to give him more time to assess the conditions and he lived up to the expectations.
"We always believed he [http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morgan-c77707] is a class act," Gambhir mentioned. "We thought of giving him some more time in the middle and thus pushed him up the order. He responded magnificently."
Gambhir, who also scored a half-century in the fixture, was named as the Player of the Match.
