If given enough time would'nt all the planets go into the sun ? If not why,why don't their orbits decay?

  1. The orbits do decay, ever so slightly.  The sun will swell into a red giant long before the planetary orbits decay enough to cause a problem...Well, except for poor Mercury perhaps.

Venus and the Earth are likely to be charred in the solar expansion, Mars may or may not suffer the same fate, but will certainly be baked into a briquette.

The outer planets will sublimate their volatile compounds and in the end, there will be a brown dwarf with a few cold cinders in orbit...until it all gets sucked into a black hole or vaporized by a nearby Supernova...then it all starts over again.

    Entropy is an illusion.
