Super Beetle: safe or not?

I really want a Volkswagen Super Beetle. Are they safe? How are they as cars in general?

They are rated safe but from the repair point of view they are very expensive to maintain and repair......

No, they are not really safe. No airbags, lousy brakes, lousy heat and defrosting in the winter.

OK if it's just to style in at shows, but not for everyday transportation.

they are great cars. but i would not like to be in a crash in one of them.
