Super Bowl XLVI: What could be the winning margin if New York Giants beat New England Patriots?
The Giants have followed a unique pattern in terms of points’ difference with their opponents in 19 games they have played in the National Football League (NFL) so far.
When they win, they win big, and whey they lose, they lose big and sometimes it is never the case.
Assuming that Giants will beat New England Patriots in the Super Bowl XLVI game on February 5, 2012, at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, it is hard to predict what the winning margin will be.
However, considering the form both the teams are in, an exciting head-to-head encounter is certainly on the cards.
Let’s have a look at the game the Giants have won in the season.
Against St. Louis Rams, the winning margin was 12 points.
Against Philadelphia Eagles, it was 13 points.
Arizona Cardinals played well against Giants and the close game ended with a difference of only four points.
Against Buffalo Bills, the margin was only three points.
Miami Dolphins fell three points short of Giants while New England Patriots were only four points behind.
Dallas Cowboys lost with a difference of a field goal (three points) after playing a really competitive game.
However, the margin was huge (15 points) when the Giants played against New York Jets.
In the last game of the NFL regular season, Giants defeated Cowboys with a difference of 17 points.
Atlanta Falcons were 22 points short of Giants while Green Bay Packers were 17 points behind.
However, San Francisco 49ers came close and then lost the game after falling three points behind.
Now there does not seem any peculiarity on the basis of which a certain opinion could be developed regarding the goal difference.
However, the Giants started the season strongly and beat the opponents by a difference of more than 10 points.
They struggled to contain the opponents in the following victories, but were once again dominant in late in the season.
Here is what my guess is:
If Giants win
The winning margin will be between 7-12 points – most likely.
The winning margin will be 1-6 points – less likely.
The winning margin will be over 12 points – it offers great odds, but the Patriots are also there to score points, so it is very less likely.
