Super Bowl XLVI advertising spots sold out by NBC - NFL News
The most watched event in American History the Super Bowl XLVI is just around the corner and the ratings the game generates are a dream for any advertiser and even in the midst of a recession advertising spots for the Super Bowl event have sold out well
before time.
Television’s giant broadcaster NBC has announced that it has sold out all advertising spots for the Super Bowl and even has a long waiting list of brands that are ready to fill gaps if any of the brands pull out. According to NBC they had sold their last
time spot after Thanksgiving and new brands are still inquiring for the available spots for the pre-game show and the live online stream of the game.
A single 30-second spot can cost around $ 3.5 million to $ 4 million but the high price tag has not stopped advertisers from getting their message across to what is likely going to be a record television audience.
The previous Super Bowl had a record television viewership of 111 million people and Fox Sports which brought the broadcast rights had sold out all its advertising spots well before October.
Seth Winter, Senior Vice President of NBC Sports group Sales and Marketing said in an interview that this year the level of creativity in the advertising will be better than ever and companies are looking for longer spots to really bring their message across
in ways never before imaginable.
"Some of the things I've seen are astonishing," Winter said. "I think you'll see a lot of ads that are humorous and action-filled, with a range of different types of executions. We haven't seen everything yet; we don't see everything until almost the week
of (the game)."
Winter was not in the mood to reveal which companies will be advertising this year but pointed out some big industries that will be putting out advertising during the Super Bowl.
"There are the usual companies that have supported it in the past," Winter said. "Automotive will be very healthy. Beverages will be very healthy. The movie and snack category continue to be healthy. There will be a few new players and some who have been
there, who won't be there."
The Super Bowl is the biggest sports event in the Americas region and has always garnered huge ratings for television audiences. The event is the second most watched Sports event in the world after the association football’s UEFA Champions League Final.
The Super Bowl XLVI will be played on February 5th at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
