Super Rugby: Blues defeat Waratahs by 31-16
The Blues defeated the visitors Waratahs with a handsome margin of 31-16 in a Super Rugby clash played this morning at Eden Park in Auckland.
Both the teams were standing at their toes to carry the day and put them in a better position on the point’s tables. This was the seventh appearance for both sides in the current season of Super Rugby and the Blues equalized the victories with the Waratahs.
The victory has placed the Blues on overall fifth position on the point’s tables whereas the Waratahs have been demoted next to them. The Blues were backed up by All Blacks flanker Jerome Kaino who made his comeback in to the side after an injury. On the
other hand the Waratahs started off the match without three of their star players Wycliff Palu, Tom Carter and Atieli Pakalani due to injuries during their last game against the Western Force on previous weekend.
It was a slick start from the hosts Blues who looked attacking since the start of the game. They took early lead over the Waratahs as Afoa had brilliant try just after the five minutes in the play. The Blues were provided with fair bit of chances by the
opponents and they utilised every opportunity offered to them.
They made three conversions during the 10th and 15th minutes of the play with the help of Brett. The Blues have dominated the field well and Waratahs were simply chasing and staring them. They were leading in the mach by 26-0 when McAlister made another
conversion on 26th minute of the play.
The hosts have full control of the game by the end of first part of the game with 31-7 on the scoreboard. After that, it was complete full stop for the Blues and they could not add a single score to their total during the whole second half.
Waratahs tried to bounce back in the match but their sluggish work proved fatal for them. The blues scored five tries and 3 conversions to reach the total of 31 whereas the Waratahs could manage only 3 tries and single conversion and ended up with 17 points
on the board.
