Super Rugby: Injury rules Sivivatu from their upcoming clash against the Bulls
Hamstring injury has ruled out the All Blacks’ flanker, Sitiveni Sivivatu, from their forthcoming fixture against the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. The match has been scheduled to be played at Reeboks soil on 30th April and Chiefs’ coach,
Ian Foster, revealed that the All Blacks’ flanker will miss the game.
Sivivatu was inspected during the practice session and he couldn’t prove himself in full spirits before the trainers. The flanker left the field during their previous game against the Lions in Johannesburg, which they won by 34-30 in a close contest.
Veteran, Ian Foster, who will lead the Chiefs to his 100th match as a coach, informed the media that Sivivatu was off the colours during his physical tests. He added that the flanker’s fitness level was not good enough to be included in the side.
However Foster argued that he will be available for the 12th round of the Super Rugby competition.
The coach further told the media that former All Blacks’ player, Isaac Ross, has been deployed at lock cover position in place of Sivivatu. While among other injuries, Hayden Triggs is out because of a neck injury and will be replaced by Sona Taumalolo.
Foster told that he wants to see Sivivatu in action with the team as soon as possible since he has performed well in the recently. He asserted, “We've been waiting to give Save a chance, he did a lot of good things last week (off the bench) and he's got
the match fitness last week under his belt”.
The Chiefs have been placed on 9th position at the overall point’s tables in the current Super Rugby championship. They have not produced impressive results in the matches they have played so far as they won just 3 of their 9 encounters in the
competition.
The opponent, Bulls, is just one step ahead of them with four victories in nine matches.
The Bulls’ skipper, Victor Matfield, declared the clash no less than a final and said that his side would try to produce the best result they can.
In their last meeting of 2009, the Bulls outclassed the Chiefs by a huge margin of 61-17.
