Super Rugby: Waratahs' hooker, Polota-Nau, rested for three weeks
Injury rules out New South Wales Waratahs’ hooker, Tatafu Polota-Nau, from their forthcoming clash against the Western Force.
The hooker will miss the contest due to a head injury sustained during the last match played by the Waratahs against the Melbourne Rebels.
However the team management was optimistic about his inclusion in the team for the rest of season besides their upcoming fixture.
Waratahs’ coach, Graham Hickey, told the reporters that Polota-Nau will now be in action against the Lions on the 21st of May since they get a bye after the weekend’s clash against the Western Force which will provide him a three week rest. The
Waratahs have been hit heavily by various injuries in the ongoing Super Rugby championship.
A number of key Waratahs’ players have been injured, including skipper, Phil Waugh, who has been suffering from a hamstring injury.
Phil missed the last clash against Melbourne Rebels and he is expected to join the unit along with Wycliff Palu and Polota-Nau on the 21st of May.
Palu has not played for his team since he was injured, playing against the Queensland Reds, on the 23rd of April.
The Waratahs are placed on seventh overall position and second among the domestic Australian derbies so far in the Super Rugby competition. The Waratahs have grabbed six victories in ten outgoings including an unimpressive victory against the Melbourne Rebels
last weekend.
The Waratahs defeated the Rebels by 28-9 while they were crushed by the Rebels, 43-0, in their first ever meeting with them. The coach, Graham Hickey, blamed the large scale injuries as the reason for their sluggish play against the Rebels.
Graham Hickey told reporters that they played without their skipper, Phil Waugh, along with a trio of influential players, Drew Mitchell, Wycliff Palu and Kurtley Beale, against the Melbourne based conference, due to their respective injuries.
Hickey further said that only Berrick Barnes made a comeback from his concussion injury for that match and therefore, the Waratah’s condition was drastic.
Waratahs will take on the Western Force on 7th May in their next Super Rugby clash.
