Super Rugby champs Queensland Reds hold on to Beau Robinson and Radike Samo for another two years
The newly minted Super Rugby champions, Queensland Reds, have retained the services of Beau Robinson and Radike Samo for two more years. Their current deals with the derby were coming to an end with the conclusion of Super Rugby season. The Reds coach, Ewen
McKenzie, confirmed on July 12 that the pair has re-signed with the conference until the end of 2013.
Both players have not played much of the Super Rugby season for Queensland Reds. Beau Robinson joined the derby this year for his maiden experience with a top Australian side. Earlier, he was the part of New South Wales Waratahs from 2007. Meanwhile, 35-years-old
Samo had signed his first contract with the Queensland Reeds last year and has played only two games with the derby. However, the pair was the part of Super Rugby championship 2011 team.
The Reds coach, Ewen McKenzie, revealed the fresh deals for the pair to the media and said that both of them agreed to stay with the franchise till the end of of the 2013 season. He added that the deal was finalised mid-way through the Super Rugby championship
but the players insisted that it be publicise after the conclusion of season.
McKenzie further told the media that, "We came to an agreement with both players midway through the regular season, but chose to hold off on officially announcing it to avoid the distraction and to ensure we remained focused solely on winning the Super Rugby
competition."
The coach also commented that Robinson had played the just concluded season of Super Rugby without a fulltime contract. However, now he has made his place among the contracted squad memebers. McKenzie also said that, "Retaining our talent is a major priority
that we invest a lot of time in, so it's pleasing to see both Beau and Radike recognise the systems we have in place and choose to remain with us in the coming years."
The pair is also delighted to sign for next couple of years with the Queensland Reds. The pair has also been named in Wallabies squad for the upcoming Tri-Nations Cup starting on July 23.
