Superb offensive effort leads Houston Texans to easy win vs Buffalo Bills – NFL Recap
Houston Texans’ comprehensive 21-9 win over visiting Buffalo Bills came on the back of another impressive teamwork on Sunday (Nov. 04).
Wide receiver Andre Johnson gained 118 yards, Arian Foster ran for 111 yards and offence leader quarterback Matt Schaub scored two touchdowns to make sure they take another leap forward on the American Football Conference (AFC) South division’s chart.
They came in the game with only one loss on the table and as per aspirations of Matt Schaub continued their winning run.
Schaub said:
"We're happy to be 7-1 at the halfway mark. But we're not finished. We've got to go into a tough environment against a very good team next Sunday night."
Further, although running backs did not display the skills as coach Gary Kubiak might have wanted, it nevertheless is an impressive contribution to overall offence’s superb effort.
Bills might have anticipated loss but not with so humiliating manner. The team did not have answer to Texans’ high-paced offence, which during each game is plied as the best defensive strategy by the Texans.
Texans’ plan of using offence as best defensive scheme has worked remarkably well. The high-paced trio of QB, RB and WR gives little time to opponents to launch any counterattack. Instead, they go on the defensive, and end up failing on both lines.
Texans’ trio of star players has been seen in prime form. They have so far managed to rip through some of the strongest defences in the league.
Schaub managed to complete 19 out of 27 passes for 268 yards. He was also sacked by his former colleague Bills’ Mario Williams. Mario also wagged a finger on him and coach Gary Kubiak, said they will have a look at it to see if there was something wrong
involved.
According to the coach:
"I have to look at the film but it looked like Mario played pretty darn good."
Moreover, Texans were not happy over the performance in the first half and thought they could have done even better. He said:
"We need to take a hard look at that and be critical of ourselves, because we hurt ourselves the whole first half.”
With the win, the Texans have consolidated their lead in AFC South further to seven wins. The Indianapolis Colts, who also won their weekend game versus the Miami Dolphins, went up but are still far behind Texans.
It nevertheless was a timely and welcome win for the Texans, and if they manage to continue with current level of performance they can confirm a playoff berth.
