I have a 2003 350z and was wondering whether I should buy a supercharger or a turbo, boost and driveability are definitely a factor.

  1. turbo's overall have better power in the high rpms. Superchargers have no turbolag.

It really depends? are you using it for racing or are you using it just for show? If your using it just for show than turbo.

  2. I would go with Supercharger, it would be better for longevity, IMO

  3. A drag racer who wants power off the line uses a super-charger. The power boost is  directly proportional to engine RPM.

A road race will go with a turbo-charger. It allows him to use the throttle to control the power gains.

What the road  racer is trying to avoid is the sharp stress on the power train that the super-charger causes. The turbo brings up power in a manner that helps keep the engine, transmission and other parts together.

So I prefer a turbo-charger in my ride. It gives me power when I need  it and keeps the clutch, transmission, drive shaft and differential together.  I want a car's power train to last.

Now if you don't mind shearing the power train apart, love burn outs and the such, get a super-charger. But remember, such acts can blow an engine apart. If you don't believe me watch a few professional and simi-pro drag races.

  4. turbo

that's what I'm gonna do to my s2000 anyways.

you will get better low end power(usable power). if you use a small turbo

its always said  its not about max power but power under the curve.

if you use a large turbo it will be lag city  but make huge power.

    superchargers have no lag.

also with a turbo you can change boost settings much easier with a boost controller.

on a supercharger you would have to change belts and pulleys.

for a street car 400-450 is max you will want to have or you car will start to lose some drive-ability.  plenty have gone much higher but harder to drive.

on a supercharger power is made gradually because its dependent on engine speed.  because of this you will have better cornering.

a turbo will make power in a surge like feel.( push you back into your seat feel)

because of this if you were taking a corner and boost kicked in you will upset the balance of you car, and possibly spin-out/slid, slowing you cornering speed.

for a street car you probably will never do that so its no big deal.

and if you are you shouldn't.

for max power or for quick spool up   it will depend on what turbo you are using.

\/ \/ \/   you are saying the exact oposite of the truth lol.

road racer will want thorttle response.. a turbo no matter how small will have turbo lag.

  5. supercharger is more reliable.

  6. supper charger has no lag and the turbo does...look up the HKS supper charger it was made for those cars...
