Question:

Superglue in the foil - is our dinner now poisonous?

Help please. I dont want to have to throw out our dinner and start again, but equally I want my family to live...

I placed some potatoes on top of some foil in the oven. now as I am taking them out I see a packet of melted superglue on the foil!!!!

Obviously, in my messy house, someone (not me :-) ) chucked the superglue in with the foil and as I was lining the oven tray it fell in. It seems to be empty now and has no lid. the lid is all melted.

Is it too dangerous to eat this food now? I dont know if any actual glue got on the food but I could smell the fumes.

these things keep happening to me :-S

  1. Now you've cooked it you are definitely stuck with it.

  2. Superglue itself, is not the problem, and it is also in use in the human body as a form of fixative used in some operations, the human body has no adverse reactions to it as a substance and it does actually dissolve in time in the human  body, but the plastic container ( from  the superglue ), in question is a very different matter, this will almost certainly be carcinogenic ( tending to cause cancers ), get rid of the meal even if it was only in the presence of the vapours from this being melted, and do not inhale it yourself, if at all possible,

  3. I really wouldn't risk it - the fumes will have tainted the food and having melted glue & plastic possibly in the food would do you no good at all.

  4. Don't take risks with food, rule #1.

Throw it out, face facts, take a deep breath and phone The Colonel for some delicious, mouthwatering, wholesome KFC.

Smell that steaming corn cobbette and crispy strips....mmmmm, exciting!!!

  5. dont eat it! glue can be really harmful when digested so best off going to the chippy and make sure the kids keep their glue away from the food!

  6. I think it would be best to chuck the potatoes into the trash and start over.

But you do know that superglue was invented as a surgical adhesive for the space program?  Super glue was inteneded to be used instead of stiches during space flights, if somebody got injured.

My wife just had major surgery, and instead of surgical staples they put her back together with superglue!  It leaves a smaller scar than staples or stithes.

  7. sorry. I wouldnt take the chance

  8. You need to throw the food out. No telling how toxic this is. I'd find the prankster and beat them....and.....let them go without dinner.

  9. It might get stuck in your throat, lol.
