When Superman or the Flash save people at lightning fast speed, wouldn't that kill the people they are trying to save?

  1. More often than not it probably would, but comics featuring superheroes are more often fantasies than not and the convention of the genre have never been concerned with realistic physical laws. If that sort of thing bothers you, don't expect comics to adapt to your views because it won't happen. You can either comics for what they are, warts and all, or you can give up on them. There isn't much inbetween those two positions.

  2. Yes. the same goes with saving people right before they hit the ground...ya need time to slow down or even if some one catches you you'll still die.

Then again they are comic books and the very fact that people (or alien I guess for Superman) are running around at the speed of sound is kind of ridiculous in itself. Fun to read about though.

The only time I have seen this concept displayed in comic books is when Spider-man tries to save Gwen Stacy from a fall and her neck breaks.

  3. Dude, throw out your comic books and grow up.

  4. Flash can save people because of his Speed force aura. He shares it with people to stop the friction, just as he does it with himself. Wally West is the speed force now and can take from it whenever he wants, now Superman is a whole different story. I'm not completely sure how HE does it, but if you notice, he doesn't really save anyone super fast. He usually stops the threat or just flies people out of the vicinity of the danger zone.

Flash is the real rescuer =D he saves people.

Go to the DC's main website and you'll be surprised by how powerful the Flash can truly be if he wanted to. Batman once referred to him as one of the strongest meta-humans on the planet.

  5. You'd think their clothes would tear off too . . . but my theory is that they actually subconsciously extend a protective field around the person that keeps them safe by holding their molecules in place.

  6. No because they sprinkle Superhero dust on the person and they can withstand the speed...

  7. Jimmy L has the right answer.

Regarding Superman, he is so powerful and talented with his powers, he can instantly adjust his inertia when approaching someone and picking them up, say, and flying away.

He knows how to use his powers well, same as Flash.  Flash does have the Speed Force, and Superman is just really adept at using his powers even at the level of a nanosecond.

Superman can do things at the speed of light, like Flash, and both know how to make use of their powers.

  8. of course they wouldn't die, it's all fiction. though i'm not too sure what would happen in real life

  9. Well if you want to draw out the process and have slow reflexes then the damsel in distress will die anyway. I would take the risk if I was falling and a superheroes came to my rescue at lightning speed.

  10. they are saved by a process called "saved by superheroism"
