The sequel to Lego Batman has been announced for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC and every other console imaginable including the PlayStation Vita!
Lego is something that has universal appeal, where one’s age does not matter and the only thing that can limit what a person can create is his, or her, imagination, though the right pieces do count as well.
Lego games also follow the same principle as Warner Bros. Interactive have found out, with titles such as the Lego Indiana Jones, Lego Star Wars, Lego Harry Potter and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean games receiving both positive critical reception as well as the ability to boast fairly impressive sales figures.
So it is no wonder that the publisher has announced another Lego game to grace every gaming console and platform this year with Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.
The development of the game will be in the hands of Lego veterans, Traveller’s Tales, whose humorous take on the adaptations have made the games so popular and endearing to the masses.
A screenshot has been released for the upcoming game, though apart from Batman having his usual side-kick, Robin, with him the poster shows none other than Superman alongside the caped crusader.
Apparently, Superman will not be the only non-Batman character in the game as a number of DC superheroes will be making appearances in the game including Green Lantern and Wonder Woman.
The official release statement for the game reads, “In LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, the Dynamic Duo of Batman and Robin join other famous super heroes from the DC Universe including Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern to save Gotham City from destruction at the hands of the notorious villains Lex Luthor and the Joker.”
One can expect a number of villains to appear in the game as well, though at this point that is just speculation.
The statement continued explaining that, like previous entries in the series, the game will appeal to a wide demographic and everyone can find something to enjoy in the game, “Batman fans of all ages will enjoy a new and original story filled with classic LEGO videogame action and humour as players fight to put the villains back behind bars.”
It sounds promising at this point and one can expect the game to feature the trademark Lego games humour and action when the game finally hits shelves. No release fate was given as it seems the game is still in the final stages of development.
However, one can be certain that Batman’s second adventure in the Lego universe will hit stores this year. It would be interesting to see if Warner Bros. will look to promote the game around the same time as their Hollywood motion picture The Dark Knight Rises.
