Superman De La Rue likely to return with a bang - Fake That Tribute Here 25 August Handicap Hurdle at Newton Abbot
Superman De La Rue is returning to action after more than one and a half years. Apart from sealing the runner-up place at Loudeac, the gelding did nothing special in 2010.
The six-year-old is yet to open his account, but it is a good chance for him to have a go. He will be quite fresh and full of energy following a long break and thus, has a great chance of seizing the top position in the Fake That Tribute Here 25 August Handicap
Hurdle, taking place at Newton Abbot on Wednesday, May 30th.
The going is good to firm and a cash prize of £3,080 is reserved for the triumphant runner. Superman De La Rue is all set to face a dozen quality runners.
Their names are: Woodlark Island, Saqil, Lucy´s Legend, Officer In Command, Mr Bachster, Hope Point, Don´t Look Bach, Holden Caulfield, Illysantachristina, Orion Express, Union Saint and Ban Uisce.
Saqil is also making his comeback after a gap of more than half a year. The 4-year-old was not impressive in his last outing at Cheltenham last season. Last year’s JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial saw him presenting a below par performance.
However, he was quite decent in his penultimate outing at Warwick, where he won a class-4 event by two and a half lengths. Tim Vaughan’s trainee will be running for the first time at Newton Abbot and there is going to be some pressure on him.
Woodlark Island has been in good form over the past few months. In early March, David Pipe’s trainee won the Bathwick Tyres Dorchester Handicap Hurdle at Wincaton. He perpetuated his good work to lock the third spot in his subsequent trip at Taunton.
Lucy's Legend was runner-up last time out. Since the six-year-old mare is coming from the lower grade, she is unlikely to make an impact.
Saqil and Woodlark Island are in good shape at the moment, but it seems to be an ideal chance for Superman De La Rue. If he succeeds in delivering his best, there is no reason why he should not have a big run today.
