  1. Most shops have now stopped accepting cheques as payment for goods, as part of customer needs, not as many people were paying using cheques and it was time consuming.  Most garages have just changed to not accepting cheques now too.

  2. ALL supermarkets stopped accepting cheques as payment at least 3 years ago.  ASDA and Sainsburys definitly do NOT accept them - I know this as I went in both earlier today.

  3. Waitrose & Co-Op still take cheques i use both of these because they do.

  4. no,no shops or supermarket take cheques anymore...

  5. They'd rather have a credit card now.

  6. Entirely down to the store.  Our local Sainsbury was still accepting cheques until last autumn.

Problem is that cheques (and cash) are more expensive to handle than electronic payments, especially debit cards.  This is why the stores offer cash-back - ideally they would give so much cash-back that they end the day with exactly the amount needed for the next days float. No need for expensive cash transport or insurance!

  7. yeah all those shops should take a cheque as long as it is acompanied with card too.
