Supersonic air travel, days of concorde.?

Question

I deeply miss concorde, shame really, isn't it?

The main reason I think the concorde stopped service was because....

The only other supersonic passanger aircraft in the world is the TU-144, it disintergrated in thin air at the paris air show, prior to the concordes performance.

Due to this many airlines removed there order for concorde aircraft, meaning BA and Air France were the only remaining buyers.

Because of this, it made sense that it would be an expensive aircraft to operate.

But, since then, we have only seen pictures of proposed new supersonic passanger aircraft? Yes, the new a380, bigger and 'better'?

I still think it's a step back in technology, that we have gone to a 6 hour atlantic crossing, apose to a 3hr one?

What do you think, personly I think a new supersonic aircraft should be built.

Well I miss Concorde too...

I think that a new supersonic aircraft should be built. The TU-144 was nearly a copy designed to outpeform concord, and some say that they were passed on flawed blueprints. I think the main reason that Concorde was axed was because it was so expensive the market for these supersonic flights were so tiny, making no profit for the airline, and because it was a fuel guzzler it was quite bad to the environment and it made it sooo expensive. If they make a new supersonic airliner, it would be better and more effiecient than Concorde as we have developed more aeronautical / aerospace technology, and most of them are to blow other humans we hate up!

Yeah, I think that there should be a new one built.

i make you right....i still miss Concorde flying over my house a few times a day...

funny i remember always looking up watching it fly over but never really take much notice of the others flying over.

Do like the new airbus wow it huge, i suppose it's the way forwards, more people, less noise and fuel must be good and better for the people who live nearby

if they use more of these then maybe  this will put an end to more runways being built..well there's hoping

The concord was 1950s technology that was one of the dumbest buisness decisions ever made in aviation. That's why Boeing cancelled it's sst. You call putting big motors on a light vehicle to make it go fast "technology"? That pig is dead for one reason, nobody wants to fly it for the price. Why the Britts and Franced messed with it is beyond me.

In the end it was the accountants that took Concorde out of service. Will there be a replacement, not for many years probably the next thing will be hyperspace.

As for the TU-144 at least one of them is back flying again in Russia as a high speed research aircraft in collaboration with the Americans

only air france and ba flew concorde because they paid for it's development.

concorde wasn't making a profit so it was scrapped, there isn't a big enough market to make it worth spending on researching / replacing the aging fleet.

bigger is more efficient and cheaper, this is business not art

Until aircraft designs and engine technology make it economically profitable you will not see another supersonic transport built.

The only way that big t**d A380 is goin supersonic is if you strap some jet engines on it's wings.
